Maria Morata

(Madrid, 1970) Unabhängige Kuratorin, Forscherin. Gastdozentin an verschiedenen Universitäten und Bildungseinrichtungen in den Bereichen Film, Neue Medien und Kunst. Kuratorin von Ausstellungen in den Bereichen Film, Neue Medien und visuelle Kunst für Museen und Kunstinstitutionen wie Arsenal - Institut für Film und Videokunst in Berlin, CCCB und MACBA und Centre Ars Santa Mónica in Barcelona, Intermediae-Matadero und La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Sterischer Herbst in Graz, Impakt Center in Utrecht und Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània in Valencia. Veröffentlichungen in Katalogen und Fachzeitschriften. Referent und Dozent für verschiedene Symposien und künstlerische Manifestationen in Museen und Kunsträumen. Seit 2009 Mitglied des Auswahlkomitees der Sektion Berlinale Shorts der Internationalen Filmfestspiele Berlin. In ihrer Langzeitforschung untersucht sie die Beziehung zwischen Medientechnologie und menschlichen und nicht-menschlichen Akteuren und dezentriert anthropozentrische Positionen. Derzeit forscht sie zu körperlichen Begegnungen mit technischen medizinischen Dispositiven aus einer queeren und kriminellen Perspektive. Seit 2019 ist sie ein aktives Mitglied des künstlerischen Kollektivs Sickness Affinity Group. Im Jahr 2020 gründete sie mit dem Künstler Lorenzo Galgó das Kunst- und Vermittlungskollektiv cripxcess. Sie lebt zwischen Madrid und Berlin.

Since 2009 part of the selection Committee der section Berlinale Shorts des International Film Festival Berlin. Her long-term research explores the relationship of media technology and human and non-human agents decenteringanthropocentric positions. She is currently researching on bodily encounters with technical medical dispositives from a queer and crip perspective. Since 2019 she is an active member of the artistic collective Sickness Affinity Group. In 2020 she founded the art and mediation collective cripxcess with artist Lorenzo Galgó. She lives between Madrid and Berlin.
