Florian Wagner – chaos & ordnung

Wann wird etwas zu einem Dokument? Was heißt es, etwas ordentlich zu dokumentieren? Florian nähert sich diesen Fragen mit einem praktischen Experiment: Er heftete zunächst alles, was er zum Thema Festhalten festhaltenswert fand, in einem gewöhnlichen Aktenordner ab. Also auch alle Assoziationen und Untersuchungen zum Ordner selbst, den er – abgeheftete Seite für Seite abfotografiert – abschließend in fünf unterschiedlich große, verschieden gebundene Publikationsformen übersetzte.

What constitutes a document? What does it mean to properly document something? Florian chose to approach these questions through practical experimentation: His considerations on the very idea of what makes something worth keeping became objects to be gradually filed into an ordinary ring binder. This included all associations and investigations relating to the binder itself, which – after photographing its content page by page – he translated into five publications of varying dimensions.
