Following a successful application, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle was awarded the European University Charter (ECHE) by the European Commission in spring 2021. This provides the basis for the art academy to be able to continue participating in the next program generation (2021 to 2028) of the Erasmus Plus program as well as to receive the associated funding. The program forms the basis for enabling Burg students to participate in study exchanges within Europe. At the same time, Erasmus Plus is the prerequisite for all existing European university partnerships of BURG, which have been contractually concluded within the framework of the program.
The ECHE requires all participating universities across Europe to gradually implement numerous innovations, including in the areas of digitalization, inclusion and green mobility. Furthermore, the recognition of achievements from the exchange semester will be strengthened and should be as automatic as possible. The Erasmus program will thus become more demanding and more comprehensive, but will continue to ensure excellent funding opportunities for students.
