If you do not hold the German citizenship or did not obtain your school-leaving certificate or first university degree in Germany, you must prove your German language proficiency and your certificates must be recognised by uni-assist before application. Our sole teaching language is German, therefore you must prove your German language proficiency. The following certificates will prove sufficient German language skills

— Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH) Stufe 2 (DSH2)

— Test – Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaF) Stufe 4 (TDN4) in allen Bereichen

— Deutsches Sprachdiplom der KMK Stufe 2 (DSD II)

— Goethe-Zertifikat C1

— telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule

Citizens from the following countries may enter Germany without visa and apply for their residence permit directly at the Foreigners' Registration Office in Halle:

Australia (also Cook Islands, Norfolk Islands, Christmas Island), Israel, Japan, Canada, Rep. of Korea, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA. Changes may apply, please check the following list: www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/visa-service/-/231148

By all means, please do contact the German embassy your country for current information about visa requirements and exemptions in due time before coming to Germany.

Citizens of all other countries require a "Student Visa” to study in Germany. You must apply for this at the German embassy in your home country before coming here.
