Die Kunstpädagogik-Diplomandin Lina Zacher gewinnt zwei Preise für ihren Dokumentarfilm „Fonja“

Über den Film:

Die Handlung spielt in einem Jugendgefängnis auf Madagaskar. Dort erkunden die Inhaftierten das Medium Film vor und hinter der Kamera. Das experimentelle Projekt ist dabei mehr als die Dokumentation ihres Alltags hinter Gittern, vor allem führt es die Jugendlichen zu einer Auseinandersetzung mit sich selbst.

Die Laudatio der Jury:

We as the documentary film jury would like to award a film that is a couragous and succesful experiment.

The director empowers the main characters of this documentary film as filmmakers themselves and allows us a glimpse into an unknown universe - a juvenile prison in Madagascar.

This empowerment brings an eye level throughout the entire film. 

Also the film is fascinating with its creative juggling of its cinematic faults. This poetry and rhythm counteracts the harsh reality of the prisoners, it gives the viewer time to breathe and process it all.

And in the end it makes obvious what the medium film is capable of doing:

Film is an experiment - film as a therapy - film as a powerful tool of communication between an isolated place and the world.

This documentary films strucks as an extraordinary example of co-creation! 

The main price of the documentary film section goes to « Fonja » and the 10 youth prisoners under the direction of Lina Zacher
